Vice President of Operations

The Vice President of Operations establishes strategy and direction for the Operations function, aligning department strategy with the cooperative's strategic goals. This position directs and manages the construction, operations and maintenance functions of the cooperative's transmission and distribution systems; and prepares and manages the annual budgets.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The duties listed are not meant to be all-inclusive. Other duties may be assigned from time to time in correspondence with the needs of the Cooperative.

• Manage the meter department, line department, forestry department, fleet and contracted projects.
• Monitor and oversee key performance indicators to ensure efficient and cost-effective processes.
• Assess our processes and implement improvements that align with our strategic objectives.
• Oversee the lineman apprenticeship program, participate in the apprenticeship committee and ensure proper training among operations.
• Receive phone calls after hours regarding outages and coordinate personnel as necessary.
• Address member complaints and inquiries in a manner that promotes a good cooperative image and member relations.
• Inspect work-in-progress and completed work to ensure that work practices and job standards are being met.
• Study and follow all policies and procedures of SWECI.
• Investigate accidents/damages to our facilities, complete bill of sale and communicate with the accounting department for billing purposes.
• Monitor material control and procurement.
• Communicate with the COO on a regular basis to keep abreast of happenings across counties and collaborate across departments.
• Create monthly report for the Board of Directors highlighting operational activities
• Participate in the annual meeting as required.
• Champion safety through weekly safety chats, periodic field audits and serving on the Safety Committee.
• Comply with and enforce all safety rules and regulations.
• Work with the COO and the Managers of Operations on creating the annual budget for operations. Collaborate with engineering on putting together the annual work plan.
